Producing a product that was created with time and effort can be quite personal. I would first like to acknowledge that it is not only brave, but important that each person shared his or her passions, thoughts and work with the world for everyone to see. I, personally, find that is the most difficult part of my learning process that at times causes over analysis and even paralysis. However, I do understand that in order to improve and maintain a growth mindset, I must push myself past my comfort zone in order to improve and learn. Creating and working on my Eportfolio has done just that.
The first thing I noticed about the Eportfolios that I viewed is that each person's work displays her personality, voice and passions. Although the message is sent digitally, it is evident that through research, anecdotal experience and opinions that each creator put their best foot forward and produced something from their heart and their head. I believe that the COVA framework highly endorses this path in learning. The sites are neat, and the domains are catchy and relevant. They are organized in a way that the user can find information about their learning, their experience and how to contact them.
The information and projects are informed, researched and there is evidence of academic pertinence through videos and sited information. It is important that the visitor feels comfortable at any site and is able to buy in to what the producer is relaying. From my perspective, I find that I believed each student and professional understood their journey and their why. This is an important aspect as I create and continue to modify my Eportfolio. It is also a significant part of who I want to be. In order to continue to educate others, I must be honest and transparent so the learner feels compelled to continue learning from me. This relationship is paramount to becoming the educator I want to be and I will continue to harvest this trait whether it is in a traditional setting or online.
Each one of the creators shows his or her passion and makes me want to know more about their research, opinions and experiences. I believe that is the biggest take away from sharing their work.
Great post, Sara! I love that you focused on making sure that you target your audience and that they feel comfortable navigating your site.
